The Biological Farming Association "Elkana", a non-governmental Georgian organization, founded in August 1994. Since 1996 "Elkana" has been a member of the IFOAM.
“Elkana” aims at the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of the population of Georgia and the environmental protection through fostering the development of sustainable organic farming and increasing the self-reliance of the rural population.
Association "Elkana" was an organizer of the following conferences and workshops:
July 11, 2008 – Workshop “Conservation of Agrarian Biodiversity in Georgia – Current Status and Future Perspectives”.
December 6, 2007 – Conference “Organic Farming Development Perspectives in the South Caucasus”
December 7, 2007 – Conference “Quality Management – Farmer Produces what the Market Demands”. The conference organized in cooperation with GTZ.
June 8-9, 2006 – Workshop “Issues of Biosafety and Agricultural Diversity in Georgia – Present Situation and Future Perspectives”.
February 1-3, 2005 – Workshop “Effective communication and information management among agricultural research, extension and farmers for rural development in Georgia” . The workshop organized in cooperation with FAO.

Georgian State Agrarian University (GSAU) is only higher educational institution in agricultural field in Georgia. The university has big traditions; founded in 1929, GSAU owns research institutes and experimental fields.

GSAU division of Ecological Agriculture and Nature Conservation was established in 2006, in the frame of agreement between GSAU the University of Kassel (Germany), Nature and Socially Just Nutrition and Landscape Culture non-profit association (Germany) and the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (Germany).

The purpose of the division is to establish research and education programmes in the field of ecological agricultural and nature conservation, focusing on biodiversity and the health of humans and ecosystems for the mutual benefit of the Southern Caucasian region.

Organic Federation of Ukraine was founded in 2005 as Ukrainian organic umbrella organization. It unites more than 100 members: farmers, processors, traders, consumers, schools and service providers specializing in organic.

Organic Federation of Ukraine has established a broad communication network, organizing seminars, lectures, round-tables, regularly distributing its monthly newsletters, “ORGANIC UA” Magazine and communicating with important multipliers within Ukraine and other neighbouring countries. Organic Federation of Ukraine together with National Agricultural University of Ukraine and Organic Services GmbH have successfully organized the 1st International Conference on the Organic Sector Development in Central/Eastern European and Central Asian Countries last year in Kyiv, Ukraine.
